About Us

In 1995 a small group of NH K-9 officers recognized the need for ongoing, consistent training. With that commitment in mind, along with the desire to help other departments that wanted to form and operate a canine unit while utilizing the most modern and effective training methods available, the Foundation was incorporated as a 501-C:3 non-profit organization to support and enhance New Hampshire Police K-9 Teams.

Our mission
We are a single, trusted resource for communities and law enforcement agencies who want to maintain high-quality K-9 programs. In addition to locating and placing qualified dogs, the Working Dog Foundation raises funds and provides facilities for training, testing, and certifying police dogs and their handlers.

Our vision
We are dedicated to realizing the vision of safer communities and more effective law enforcement through consistently high-quality training for K-9 dogs and their handlers.

Our goals
We support the placement, training, and care of police dogs through community awareness, education, and fundraising programs:

  • We sponsor and conduct events throughout the community to build strong ties with the communities we serve and to promote the awareness of the work of the K-9 corps and the Working Dog Foundation. Events include competitions, awards and recognition ceremonies, and community work.
  • We conduct education programs in the communities we serve and through their school systems. Programs include a K-9 coloring book, Junior Police K-9 Badges for elementary schoolchildren, and the award-winning Adopt - A - Police K-9 Programs for high schools.
  • We conduct numerous fundraising initiatives throughout the year, including our year-round appeal to the public, tiered membership dues, K-9 Academy merchandise, and fundraising events such as the annual “Ride for the Animals Poker Run” and the Annual Golf Classic.
